Principal's Back to School Message

Dear Parents, Caregivers and Students,

Welcome everyone to the 2021 school year and this our first newsletter. Special greetings to the new families with over 20 new children who have joined our wonderful KCS community for the start of 2021.

I trust that you have all experienced a wonderful Christmas and holiday break. I look forward to catching up with many of you at our Pre-Start Visits and Community Picnic on Monday 25th and seeing all the Kindy to Year 6 students as they start back on Wednesday 27th and all our Kick Start kiddies on Thursday 28th.

2021 Home Pack

Today we have posted out our Home Pack to each family. Inside it you will find:

  • A special booklet containing our key foundational statements: Calling, Values, and KCS Student Attributes
  • The School’s 2021-2025 Strategic Goals
  • The School’s 2021 School Improvement Plan
  • 2021 Parent Handbook
  • 2021 KCS Staff list
  • Correspondence from some classroom teachers
  • Flyer: Special School Community Event

School Newsletter

This year you will be receiving the school newsletter on a fortnightly basis. It is expected that these will be in your email accounts late on a Thursday afternoon in the even weeks of each term. It will follow the already familiar format but will be including a new feature, that of the memory verse(s) from the bible that all PP-Y6 students will be learning each fortnight.

Extra-Curricular Registrations

The provision of Extra-Curricular opportunities for our students are so important to us at KCS. Please note the following registration deadlines and contact the school office if you require any additional information.

We will email you when registrations for senior choir, netball and soccer open.

Parent Help and Contribution

We are pleased to announce that we will be returning to allowing parents to assist staff in classrooms, on excursions, and with various events. This will need to be in keeping with public health requirements. We are currently finalizing a set of guidelines which we anticipate getting out to you along with the first regular newsletter of the term being issued on Thursday 4th February.

Parents in Partnership (PIP)

As soon as school has resumed Gregg Weaver and Nick Stowe (current chair of our Parents in Partnership group), will be meeting and providing the community with information about how the PIP group will be functioning for 2021 and your opportunity to actively be involved in the support of the school and its families.

2021 School Production

We are pleased to announce that this year’s school musical production is called “Mystery at Magpie Manor.” Auditions are being held in the first couple of weeks of term with announcement of the Cast on Thursday 11th February. The production is to be held on the evenings of Thursday 16 and Friday 17 September. It is going to be sensational, so mark it in your calendars now.

Houses (formerly Factions)

You will find details within the 2021 Parent Handbook coming in the Home Pack as to a substantial change in terms of our school Houses (formerly called factions by some). One of our Improvement Goals for 2021 is to enliven the House spirit. As part of this development, we are commencing 2021 with four Houses. Sadly, there will no longer be a Morgan House, but we have retained Wesley and Taylor. In a move to recognise gender equality, the other two we have adopted are Carmichael and Slessor. We are currently in the process of redesignating all students to their new Houses and will let you all know within the next couple of weeks which House your child(ren) will be part of.
