Musical Opportunities

At Kalamunda Christian School we value all areas of learning and hope to provide students with a balanced education. Research shows that a child’s participation in musical activity can make significant differences in their abilities related to learning, memory and social interactions.

In addition to our quality instrumental program, additional musical opportunities are available.

Registrations are now open for musical opportunities for this year.

  • Singing lessons for Years 3 – 6
  • Percussion group for Years 5 – 6
  • Senior choir for Years 5 – 6
  • Junior choir for Years 2 – 4 (no registrations necessary as this is part of the curriculum)

We would appreciate registrations by Friday 2 February.


Singing Lessons
Available for Years 3 - 6

We are pleased to offer private voice lessons to students in Years 3 – 6. Lessons are available for individuals or small groups and will be conducted by our choir director Mrs Renate Sykes. The students will learn age-appropriate singing techniques and repertoire, as well as posture, diction and dramatic presentation. Lessons will be held during the school day.

Individual Lessons - $200 a term


Percussion Group
Available for Years 5 – 6

Our percussion Group is run by Miss Lewit and is specifically for any Year 5 and 6 students that would like to enjoy music through the playing of marimbas or various kinds of drums.

This year percussion group will be held during lunchtime on Thursdays. The children will have an opportunity to eat their lunch before this ensemble commences. The group size is limited to 10 students.

Choirs

Both choirs are run by Mrs Renate Sykes on Tuesdays and will commence from Week 2 of Term 1.

Years 2 – 4: As part of the curriculum this year all Year 2 - 4 students will participate in junior choir during school hours (note that there is no need to register Year 2 - 4 students for junior choir as all will participate).

Years 5 – 6: Students will have the opportunity to join our senior choir. Please register your child using the online form.
