Educational Success in the Early Years

Invitation

How do we set our young people up for an educationally successful journey? What are the key considerations that we need to mindful of? How can we best support and encourage our young children to be the best they can be?

Every parent wants their child to flourish in life - the roles of the home and school are critical in this process. The goal of this presentation is to provide some principles and tools for parents that will help foster within children a desire to grow, learn and achieve educational success. By drawing on child development research and his experience as a parent, university lecturer/tutor and school principal, Dr Graeme Cross (Swan Christian Education Association CEO) aims to provide insights in this presentation into how schools and parents can work together to achieve outstanding educational outcomes

We would appreciate RSVPs from parents as we will be catering for a curry night including curry, rice, riata, naan bread and chutney for dinner prior to the meeting.

Please note that the presentation is for adults only. The content will be aimed specifically towards parents from the early years (Kick Start to Pre-Primary). If you have family members or friends who have children approaching school age we would love you to invite them, please include them in your RSVP.

About the Presenter
Dr Graeme Cross
B. Ed, M. Ed. Admin, PhD (Edith Cowan University)

Graeme is Chief Executive Officer of Swan Christian Education Association, having commenced the role on 17 June 2019. Graeme has a strong background in education and previously served as the Academic Dean at Vose where he was responsible for the oversight and development of Vose College. In addition to this part-time role, he worked as a consultant in the area of school leadership and had teaching responsibilities with Edith Cowan University (ECU) and Morling College (Sydney). Graeme has served in senior educational roles in both government and non-government schools, including 13 years as a principal.

Further, Graeme served as the Governance Council Chair at Carey Baptist College. His PhD research explored the social and civic implications of religious schooling and received the 2014 ECU Research Award. Some of the key themes emerging from his research were recently published in the International Journal of Christianity and Education.
