At Kalamunda Christian School we value all areas of learning and hope to provide students with a balanced education. Research shows that a child’s participation in musical activity can make significant differences in their abilities related to learning, memory and social interactions. Music also promotes creativity, self-expression and emotional well-being whilst reducing tension, anxiety and stress.
Singing is an enjoyable way for children to participate in music without necessarily formally studying an instrument.
All Year 1 and 2 students will participate in Junior Choir.
Year 3 to 6 students will have the opportunity to join our Senior Choir. Senior Choir is for children who share a love of music, singing and performing and will be held on Thursday afternoons from 1:30pm – 2:00pm in Room 6, commencing in Week 4 of Term 1. Directed by Mrs Renate Sykes, the Senior Choir follows an engaging and varied repertoire catering for varying abilities and confidence levels. Repertoire for Term 1 will include preparation for the Easter Assembly and Baby Proms.
Please note: Senior Choir is completely optional. Students in Years 3 and 4 who do not participate in choir will attend Library with Mrs Minchington. Students in Years 5 and 6 who choose not to participate in choir will attend class with Mrs Ballantine.
Students who have registered for the 2020 production ‘Alice: The Musical’ will learn their repertoire in production rehearsals, not in choir as last year. Students involved in Thursday after school auditions will return to rehearsal once they have completed their audition.
Please complete the online form to register for senior choir by Friday 21 February
Note that there is no need to register Year 1 and 2 students for junior choir, as all of these students will participate.
