To cultivate character and competencies foundational to flourishing lives and community through holistic Christian Education.
The guiding scripture behind our calling is John 10:10, which is where Jesus says “I have come that they may have life and have it to the full.”
Our calling is underpinned and realised by our four core values; it is always about aiming HIGH.
HONOUR: Treating others with respect, valuing the individual and promoting a sense of belonging for all. (“Outdo one another in showing honour.” Romans 12:10)
INTEGRITY: Seeking truth, honesty, and wisdom in all things. (“The integrity of the upright guides them.” Proverbs 11:3)
GENEROSITY: Big-hearted and open-handed, giving of time, effort, hospitality, and friendship. (“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35)
HUMILITY: A gracious and other-person-centred approach to relationships. (“Clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another.” 1 Peter 5:5)
When our calling statement uses the word 'cultivate' it captures the essence of our mission; the nature of what we do day on day.
To cultivate is to foster and promote the growth or development of something; in other words, to educate. It speaks of establishing enriching environments, of sowing into lives, of things taking root, of nurture and care, and training and discipline, all conducive toward effective healthy growth and a life of flourishing.
Our chief calling is to cultivate character and competencies in all KCS students foundational to them flourishing in their learning and wellbeing, valued members of the school community. This is primarily encapsulated in our HIGH Values and Graduate Profile.
We seek to cultivate in all our staff a passion for Christian Education and the expertise and professionalism associated with their roles. We constantly work at being a high functioning team of professionals who collaborate, and problem solve together. Teachers will exemplify the KCS Teacher Profile.
